Linda

"I first came to Baytree Lodge 5 years ago after spending 6 months in hospital with depression and agoraphobia. Initially, I was petrified going out on my own, and my mood was quite low. However, the staff at Baytree patiently took me out and helped me overcome my fear of open spaces. By engaging in house activities, and socialising with residents and staff, my mood gradually improved. 3 years ago I moved to Bramley house, where I became increasingly confident going out alone, but still had support when I needed it. Here I began to regularly attend the local church, and also developed a close network of friends who I go out and meet regularly. I have enjoyed the music evenings every Monday at Bramley House with Earl. I am currently learning to sing Amazing Grace accompanied by the guitar. I now live almost completely independently in a Baytree flat opposite Bramley House. I still occasionally turn to staff at Bramley House, who are always willing to help me out by taking me out to Tescos or the Bank. I eventually hope to move into a council flat and hopefully get a pet dog again"
