Aim Higher Taster Day

Drama, dance and the performing arts were amongst the activities enjoyed by Baytree service users at the Aim Higher Taster Day at the Middlesex University. On the 5th of May, 11 service users spent a day at the North London Business Park. This unique opportunity enabled clients to experience at first hand the friendly campus atmosphere whilst gaining an insight into student life.

On arrival service users and staff were greeted by Cobi Campbell from Aim Higher. They were given a choice of activities to choose ranging from music to midwifery. Interestingly all the Baytree service users chose drama. This started with breathing exercises to relax every part of the body from head to toe and quickly progressed to performing short drama sketches. Some of us discovered talents they never knew they had!

After a hearty lunch, service users and staff went on a tour of the campus, including the library and animal enclosure. This ended at fitness trail where some still had enough energy to take part in some strenuous physical activities.

Overall, the aim of the taster day was to give people the confidence to realise their learning potential and I think all present would agree that it was a thoroughly enjoyable day that definitely achieved its aim.

Baytree pass Investors in People (IIP) inspection with flying colours!

Baytree went through Investors in People Inspection after the first 3 years with flying colours, with no condition attached. Congratulations to staff and service users obviously we are proud not only to have broken record with the speed with we received our award in 2004, but to have sailed through the re-newal inspection without any condition attached.
